We Party’ed In Pink!!!

Good Morning Luv-lies,

Woke up this morning a little slower than usual.  Instead of the usual::

rolling over, firmly planting my feet on the floor and springing up sort of reminiscent of my twenty-something self,

THIS morning’s roll over, feet planting,  ‘springing up’ was replaced by my actual fifty-something self::

stiffness that just falls shy of “I’m just going to lay here like a beached whale”!

For a moment,

I couldn’t figure out for the life of me,

why I was feeling like ‘The Tinman’ – rusty & ‘crickety’!

I managed to rise ‘n shine.

And

While  practically inhaling my cup of ‘jo,  it came to me the reason that I was sooooooo very, very STIFF!

…. The GREAT  time that I had at yesterday’s Zumbathon fundraiser for Breast Cancer – PARTY IN PINK!!!

*sigh of relief….. I’m not getting old*

I have to tell you, Luv-lies, it was well worth all of this stiffness and more!

I woke up early to may sure that I had breakfast … boiled egg whites (with a few yolks…. a girl needs some ‘good’ cholesterol), sliced Pink Apples sautéed in EVOO and seasoned with cinnamon, nutmeg with Raspberry & Chocolate vinegar *yum yum*.  And a mug of jo’

This is the second Zumbathon that I’ve participated in this summer.  The first one was for a personal achievement.  This one is even more significant because this two hour Party in Pink raised a over $2500.00 that will be donated to the fight for the cure for Breast Cancer.

Thank You for going down memory lane with me….

What did you do this weekend?

Easy Like Sunday Morning & A Late 4th of July Post…..

Good Morning Luv-lies,

Just checking in to see how everyone’s 4th of July holiday panned out. I started the morning, early – my body forgot that it did not have to go into work that morning *bummer* 😛 with my usual cup of jo, 2 boiled egg whites and a bowl of mixed berries ~5PPV…YEY!!!!!.

As the early morning hours slowly inched toward mid-morning, I indulged in watching a steady stream of pre-recordings of my favorite Sunday morning show, CBS Sunday Morning, previously hosted by the late, Charles Kuralt – whose baritone voice is the real reason that I tuned in. Kuralt’s soothing voice has since been replaced by that of Charles Osgood – voice equally as appealing ;-).

The leisure of the morning was interrupted by a much anticpated-early afternoon- two hour-jammed pack-music infused Zumba class. I soooo look forward to this class with this instructor! She is FanTabuLous!!!
Her classes are flooded with great music and loads of energy…. can you say “Cardio on steroids”!?

zumba-o

Needless to say, the Zumba class set me up juuuuust nicely for the pending holiday foodfest 🙂
Initially, I had planned to stop past one of my favorite eateries and have my holiday feast there. However, my spontaneous alter-ego took over and I decided to spend that time at home with a ‘home grilled meal’. Thank goodness for the weekly meeting where we went over ‘how not to pig out during the holiday’! Since this was an unplanned meal (had I gone to my favorite restaurant, I would have known what I was going to eat :-P) I had to figure out what was going to make for a flavorful and filling meal that did not make me spend my remaining PPVs and that was fit for grilling. This task called for a trip to my new found digital shelves that house my virtual library. Once there, it did not take me long to find just the meal….
Shrimp and Kielbasa Kabobs… {yumminess on a skewer & Only 7PPV ~ YeY!}.

… my delicious and savory eat is pictured below…. What do you think?… Yum-cious – right?

After the meal, I spent the remainder of the afternoon ‘chillaxin’… gearing up for an evening of fireworks that the city government’s office promised to be stupendously spectacular !

Two hours later, tired but in a satisfied and fulfilled kind of way, I returned home to quietly reflect on the wonderful, unplanned hours of the day.

That,  was my fantastic fourth!

Good Sunday Morning Luv-lies,

In just a few short hours, I have managed to burn off tons (well, not really tons. but it feels like it 🙂 of calories at Zumba this morning. We had a substitute instructor this morning that was A-Maaazing! Lots of ‘glistening’ going on during and after the class.

Also, while strolling through one of my favorite food blogs, I was thrilled to find out that today is NATIONAL Hot FUDGE SUN-DAE! *YAY!!!!*

….. and…. a hot fudge ice cream sundae will cost you ONLY 8 PPV …. *clapping feverishly*

I’m off to the Farmer’s Market. I can’t wait to share my fabulous finds… 🙂

What’s in your plans this splendid ‘Sundae’?

women working it out!

Hellooooo Luv-lies
It’s Friday!!! I hope that you have had numerous successes this week…. including being a ‘big loser’ {of poundage… of course!}.

Finally, a day with weather that is just to bee-yoo-tiful for indoor cardio.
I’ll definitely make it to my usual end of the week Zumba class, but for now… I’m lacing up my gym shoes, readjusting my ActiveLink and taking a much needed, hard earned walk!
See you Luv-lies when I get back 🙂
What outside activity are you looking forward to doing today?

Hey!! Take Your Foot off of My Scale

1e621dab01da4ecdab637e9c2f92dcfe_2

Hello Luv-lies,

I awoke this morning  in a relatively good mood – the weather is great, looking forward to a great workout (although a couple of hours away, still looking forward to moving this body to the rhythmic sounds of a Zumba class!), planning a great meal (new recipe for a spinach salad. …I’ll post the recipe soon :-)), – just relaxing and catching up on the leisure things (read… the stuff that keeps me sane) in my world.

But first, my Sunday begins, as it has in the last six months with an early morning weigh-in.  Over these four months, I have eagerly looked forward to stepping up on that scale – after disrobing to the bare legal minimum of clothing (come on…you know what I’m talking about, right?). Now I know that I was a “little bad” this week, but I was not prepared for the 2.4 pound weight GAIN!

There I stand in utter disbelieve….whhhhaat!! 2.4 pounds! WTW! {What The What!}. Well…. it took me a minute to step down off of that ‘awful’ scale – how dare it say that I’ve gained!. But once I re-donned my shedded clothing (perhaps I should have kept them on… then I would have something to, immediately, blame it on 😛 ), I took my place in the ‘green seats’ to receive the leader’s message on the topic of the week – Be a Tracking Pro. While sitting there, my mind couldn’t help frequently drifting back to the dreaded 2.4 pound gain and thinking how does the weekly topic pertain to my earth shattering bad news!

Somewhere during my self-indulgent drift back to my ‘bad news’ I begin to hear the message in the weekly topic. And as I tuned in and listened more to the Leader and my fellow ‘Green Seat Luv-lies’, I realized that one of the major tools that had brought me so much success in the beginning –TRACKING- I had neglected to implement (not just this past week, but for several weeks! … There I’ve said it! … Woosah…..).

After the meeting, I quickly made inventory of all of the (unwritten) food infractions that impacted this week’s gain….and they were many

Revisiting last week’s food intake made it very clear to me that I:

(1) must become a Tracking Pro, again,

(2) must move forward and not be bogged done in the gain and beat up on myself, but, learn from this experience, and

(3) celebrate what I DID RIGHT this past week

Clint Eastwood... You did it right =)Two of which are ::

Eight workouts – at the fitness center that I am a member – in 7 days.   I’ve started morning workouts – via My Wii- before going into work. In the past week, I’ve gotten three mornings in!

And, I live with my ActiveLink on my side.   According to it, I have met my daily activity needs 96% of the time this week  {YEY ME!!!},  Even though my ‘back’-tracking and the scale has served to snatch me back to the reality that the program tools do/can work, my ActiveLink has patted me on the back for a stellar physically active week!

I am eagerly looking forward to a better week!

What have been your program challenges?

I Luv to hear your thoughts…. Do Share
