Hello Luv-lies,
Have a Great Looooong Weekend!!!
What exciting plans do you have for this, the last weekend of the summer? My plans have me sticking pretty close to home this holiday weekend. Lots of farmer’s market visits, reading, relaxing and napping :).
Picked up this little gem to help me tote my ‘vacay’ market finds home this weekend & as a reminder to eat more veggies.
It’s made of jute, so it should be hold up pretty good to my food finds. And to the washings between shops!
Loads of room inside for all of my goodies!
Yeeeeahhh!
What’s on your ‘to buy’ list?
Come back and….

Hello Luv-lies,
Got Resolution? Why not make this little money-saving ditty one of them – I am. We’ll probably be more successful than say, ummmmmmm ……any weight loss resolutions ( just keeping it real… I’m just saying)
This little challenge seems to be all the rave this year. It premise seems pretty basic (don’t you just hate when someone says that? It makes me feel like, if I don’t get it – the first time – I’m a lot challenged… just saying):: You start by saving one dollar the first week of the year and gradually save $52 in the last week of the year.
The idea seems to have been started last year by, Kassondra Perry-Moreland, who owns the Facebook group for the 52-Week Money Challenge, and *BOOM!* it went viral. Kassondra talked to Martin Williams of All Things MW and offered this reason for starting ‘the thing’::
“I am a single parent, and I have worked at my job for 22 years. I just worked 53 hours alone in this payperiod and do this all of the time. I decided that this is the year that I will have something to show for working all of those hours instead of just bills left over at the end of the year. I work better if I am held accountable, even in my personal life, so I decided to see how many of my friends would be honest and say they needed help with a structured savings plan, and even if they don’t would they help me. I had no idea that it wold turn into what it has in just the last two hours”.
Here’s how the weekly breakdown looks like::
I’m going to give it a try. I do think that I’m going to do it in reverse, though.
That way, when the holiday season rolls around, my saving amount will be ‘Min-Na-Mall!
Are You In?
…. do tell
Hello Luv-lies,
Happy Monday
I have tons of running around to do today. Trying to get the house ready for the holiday. That usually means a trip to some of my favorite shopping digs. Have to find new shower curtains, bath rugs, decorative soaps, candles….. You get the picture 🙂
I’m mostly a brick and mortar shopper. I prefer to touch things before I buy them – go figure. Now don’t get me wrong, I spend my fair share of surfing the ‘net for goodies & gadgets. And every now and then, they’ll be some juicy little tidbit that beckons me to give in to my ‘touchy-feely’ need.
So, while I wait for the doors to open, thought I’d let you take a peek in on the on-line goodies that are inspiring me now::
I LUVVVV this buffet. It’s actually called a ‘commode buffet’. If this is really a water closet,
I would have to gut all the plumbing and make it a desk. It is far too pretty to sit on. Now sitting behind (pun intended :)) …. that I can see!

These are just toooooo cuuuuute! I don’t have anyone to gift these to and that’s too bad, because they are too adorable!

Don’t you just luv the look and feel of this retro christmas card? There’s something to be said about the peace that come with the nostalgic ‘June Cleaver’ look. {okay all of you young’ins, click the link to see who I’m talking about}
How long is your Christmas Card list? Well, fortunately for me, my list is small enough that I can send unique greetings to all. And this, my Luv-lies, will be on the must buy/must send list {so many lists!}. I have the perfect person!
Do you send everyone on your list a unique card? Every now and then, I find boxed cards that are toooooo bee-you-ti-ful to pass up. Don’t you find that today’s boxed cards are far better than yesteryear? And, Yes! Everyone on the list gets the same card. Hey. All I can say is “my Friends understand me”.
How many of you Luv-lies have, either sent or received E-Holiday Cards? *No judgment* I really like the animated ones. And you can’t beat the variety.
I’m thinking….. perhaps next year, I’ll host a holiday card swap :). Thoughts?
Fun! Fun! Fun!

A Little arm candy….. must have! Dreamy….
That’s all. I’m on my way….
What are you Luving Now?

Hello Luv-lies
This Girl is on Fire!!!!
On Tuesday, Deborah Cohan, an OB-GYN and a mother of two, went into surgery to have her breasts removed. But before the surgery, she and her medical team threw a pre-op dance party in the operating room at the University of California-San Francisco Medical Center at Mount Zion.
The six-minute video, features Cohan and her surgical team getting jiggy with it to Super Diva – Beyoncé’s hit single “Get Me Bodied.” The flash mob OR dance was the brainchild of Cohan. and first appeared on CaringBridge, a site that connects friends and family together during a health event. On the site, Cohan created a page called Deborah’s Healing Journey, where she detailed her flash mob plans.
On her CaringBridge page, Cohan wrote – “My fantasy is for you to play the song … and dance wherever you happen to be.” She requested friends and family to send photos and videos of themselves dancing to the song.
“I have visions of a healing video montage. Nothing brings me greater joy than catalyzing others to dance, move, be in their bodies. Are you with me people?”
What an AWESOME Woman!!
So Luv-lies,
What awesomeness have you witnessed today?

Hello Luv-lies,
How’s life and things been with you guys? Hope that this week is seeing less of you =) . I’ve been following my running plan in preparation for my upcoming [did I say 1st] C25K race. And have finally broken this 4 months
yes!! four f#%king months !!!!plateau thingy that I’ve been stressing over!
Can’t help but share my thoughts on an animated conversation that I overheard , this past week, by a group of women who had just completed their morning workout.
The conversation was centered mostly around ‘trying to fit eighty hours into the allotted twenty-four hours that make up the usual day…’. The question poised was ‘ with the challenges of family, religious, work and community obligations, when is there time for today’s woman to take care of herself…’?
I wonder if any of these women know that according to The Bureau of Labor and Statistics, 66% of women with children 17 or younger work full- or part-time. And that the research done by Linda Babcock, which she published in a study entitled, “Women Don’t Ask“, reported that full-time working women do over 33 hours of domestic chores a week… With all of the hats that we wear
seemingly all at one time, Soccer Mom, Domestic Diva, Paula Professional, BFF, etc., it’s no wonder that we feel like Super Women!
Because the cost of being a Super Women may be far too high – health, time, stress, personal and financial well-being – it goes without saying that finding that
ever-so-elusivebalance is imperative.
Until we have found that balance, I would like to share this ‘letter of the month’ written by Marina Aleksintser in Fitness Rx Magazine, that is a sort of an Ode to the Super Women::
“….so here is what i have learned to be true about every woman. j Although they find it easy to believe in other people’s talents and abilities, they often have difficulty believing in their own. They are eager for knowledge and how-tos on how to master the juggling act of family, career, taking care of themselves. But the truth is, at the core, we just want to know we’ve got what it takes and that we are superwomen, even when our capes are being dry-cleaned. We are looking for connections, acknowledgements and assurance that we are on the right path and that we do have what it takes to reach all the personal and professional success – whatever that looks like for us…. [we] feel validated, inspired and empowered….”
After all, isn’t validation, inspiration and empowerment a pretty powerful trio of allies to have?
I’d luv to hear your thoughts, Luv-lies?
Twenty-four hours from now, I will be joining loads of fans/viewers that will be watching the coveted Boston Marathon 2013. From its humble beginnings, the Boston Marathon has become one, of just a few races, that are the barometer of elite marathon races. This is a race that welcomes everyone from the first-time marathoner to the most elite runners in the world.
With so much diversity in the level of runner who enters this much lauded race, it’s hard to imagine that there was a time (during its humble beginnings) that the marathon was a ‘Men’s Only’ race.
Women runners can thank Katherine Switzer for being able to participate in this great race!!
Here’s an inspiring video ::
Hat’s off to You Katherine Switzer!!!
