Work That A** Wednesday! : High Heels Workout

Good Morning Luv-lies,

Okay, raise your hand with me, if you are too through with all of this snow!

raise your hand1

 This weather mayhem has gotten in the way of maintaining any normalcy to my workouts!!

Want to go to the gym, can’t get through the mounds of snow….

Finally able to wade through the snow to make it to the street, the gym closed early  * Forecast calling for several feet of new snow.  Like. Right. Now.*

Arghhhhhh!!!  Spring!  Where are you?!

I’ve exhausted the fitness workouts on my cable channels, so I went trolling on the ‘net to my ‘You-tube’ channel.

Took me a minute, but, I found this cray-zee HIGH HEEL workout!!

As if, tennis shoes aren’t challenging enough!  I’ve done it a couple of times – High Heels and all!

Hell! It can’t be that different from partying at the club… right!

You must try this.  Steel-let-toes and all!

So Luv-lies,
How’d you do? It’s like being in ‘the club’. Minus the cover.

A New Friday Theme & Simple home-style food

Happy Friday Luv-lies,

It's a Charlie Brown snow moment

Today is just plain ‘ol  cooooold!!  All week, the weather prognosticators have been predicting this sub-zero, artic blast that they’ve – most appropriately- dubbed  ‘a polar vortex’.   The temperature outside can’t be described as nothing short of bitterly cold!  This is the type of cold that freezes EVERYTHING on contact.  The weather guys  have also been promising that milder temperatures are in store *side eye*.  The snow is coming down fast! crazy fast!  and the wind is brutal! making it feel even more bone chillingly {is that a word? – ‘chillingly‘?} frigid!

I’m really glad that I didn’t ignore the pre-shopping warnings and not wait until the last minute to do that ‘bad weather grocery shopping’.   The procrastinator in me usually waits until the last minute to do those ‘must get done’ things that should be done waaaaay before the weather related closings, delays and traffic snarls have occurred.

And so.  Here I sit.  It’s Friday.  I’m snowed in.  sitting in front of my laptop … and thinking about food….

{Alert! Alert!} Okay. Right about now, I feel a ‘theme’ coming on.

Yes. A Theme.

I think I like the idea of blogging about food.  And the fact that it’s Friday lends itself nicely to a themed alliteration.

I think I have it!

Friday’s around here will feature at least one post that will have a food theme …. and it will forever be known as  ‘Friday Food Porn’.  *throwing confetti in the air*

I can’t guarantee that all of the foods featured will be the healthiest, but I can promise that they will leave your mouth watering….

With the weather today being as it is, I think that it is most befitting that the first post Friday Food Porn be about ‘comfort food’

Why start with the first meal of the day?

Breakfast.

What is could be more decadent than donuts & coffee?   The mini size is a fantastic way to satisfy that ‘first thing in the morning’ sweet tooth without overindulging

Mini Coffee with Donut #Yumlicious!

and for Lunch

Mac ‘n Cheese.  Again, I’m staying with the mini bite.  With a side garden salad – Yowza!

…. Dinner

a second meal with cheese?  It’s cold outside…

ahhhhhh. yes.

Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup

and ….Dessert

Warm apple pie

just add a glass of cold milk.  no greater way to end a day

Warm Apple Pie What a way to end a day :)

What a way to end a day 🙂

 So that’s it.
This has certainly been a deliciously fun way to spend the morning.  Snowed in.  Comfy P.J.’s.  and comfort food.  The greatest beauty of comfort food is its simplicity and the magical way that it transforms us to a time & place that is familiar and safe.

This is Starting to Feel like My #1

Good early Morning, Luv-lies

Running-Water-Pencil

Looking forward to my Thursday run … I’ve finally settled into what I call  ‘The Run’

For me, ‘The Run’ is that place in my head where I am relaxed in my run.

A place where I focus on how my

body ‘feels’ during the run.

Usually  during my run, my focus has been on finishing the run.

My thoughts often were, “when is this going to be over?”, “one more mile…. just one more mile…”

Now,

I’ve settled into the music that I use to inspire my run.

I smile with every step that pounds the pavement.

I feel the strength developing in my whole body but particularly in my legs

I’m finally embracing this whole running thing and settling in to mindfulness about it….

it’s fast becoming one of my ‘LUV IT’ workouts!!!

Put Your Feet Up.... It's Saturday !!!!

Put Your Feet Up…. It’s Saturday !!!!

Good Morning Luv-lies,

Happy Saturday…. hope that your week has been a productive and rewarding one.

I tell you, for me, this week has flewn by – like a flock of birds heading south for the winter!   It’s been a week of mostly goods and ……. not so goods  okay, so when it wasn’t good, it was reeeealllly bad!

Well, let’s get to it…..

The Week’s ‘Good’ Stuff…  {starting with the most important first :-)} :

My Little Ones.... Luv Them Babies

My Little Ones…. Luv Them Babies

Spent almost two hours video chatting with my three Grands…. affectionately referred to as ‘My Little Ones’.  I LUV them babies!!!

My six year old granddaughter (that’s her with the awesome make-up on the left) read me a story from one of her favorite books.  That was amazing!  While she was reading, I had a ‘light bulb moment’.  She was really reading! Not from rote, but, really reading with passion and emphasis.  WOW!!  She is growing up so fast….

Her oldest brother, my four year old grandson (he’s the one with the amazingly infectious smile on the far right side of the picture), also growing far too fast, sang me his rendition of  the ‘ABC’s’.  It took some coaxing – I had to sing it first… incorrectly.  He was in and out of a few small tantrums during the chat.  My silly rendition of the ‘ABC’s’ helped him out of it…  Besides, I he’s so proud of himself when he done.  And, of course, I am major scale proud of him!  I have a feeling that reading is on the very near horizon…. Yey!!!!!!

Then there is my youngest of the bunch (he’s the cutey in the middle).  He’s two years old but I swear that he’s been here before.  If he were just a little taller, one would think that he is the oldest.  He takes over! And, I have a sneaky suspicion that because he’s the youngest, his brother & sister let him take over –  but not for too much longer!  He likes to be the ‘holder of the phone’.  Because he talks in ‘two year old speak’ most of the sounds that I hear while he’s holding the phone is heavy breathing.  He’s soooo damned cute!

During most of this, my daughter was preparing dinner.  So I got to be the ‘virtual’ babysitter (hey! how did that happen? :-0).  But most importantly, I had a chance to visit with my family, who I miss soooo much!

More Goods!!!

My Weight Watchers Dashboard

 Seven months of Weight Watchers and commitment to moving my arse has rewarded me in several ways.

I’m down 0.4lbs {that’s 15lbs closer to goal}

Several garments that have been hanging in my closet – still with price tags and size tags (of a smaller size than I was seven months ago) – now fit –  with plenty of extra room – Whoa Hoo!!!

And most, inspirational and humbling….  at work, a few of the Ladies have been very complimentary (and forthcoming) with compliments on the amount of weight that I have lost and how ‘good you look, girl’.  Their compliments have been, among other things, encouraging and flattering.  They have been so inspired, that, we have decided to form a support group where we focus on healthy weight loss and healthy lifestyle.  They have appointed me as the mediator of the group.  Again, I am truly humbled and flattered.  There will be loads of posts about this group…. can’t wait to get started!

More Good Stuff !!!

I ran 36 miles this week!!!

I ran 36 miles this week!!!

This week, I’ve run a total of 36 miles!!! YEY ME !!!!!!!!!

                                           ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ohhhhh   Soooooo   Baddddd   Stufffffff !!!!
Im' Out of Control!!!
Im’ Out of Control!!!
I over ate !!!!!!  Yes! that was reallllly bad…. but not until Thursday.  And only on  Thursday !  I usually don’t touch my 49 Weekly Points that the WW program allows, but, not only did I eat my allotted points, I ate ALL of the 49 Weekly Points – In One Night!!! …..  whhhhhaaaaat!?  …… riiiiiiiight!
I did recover on Friday.
And the plan today is to STAY ON PROGRAM!!!
……… That’s my week, Luv-lies,
How was your week?
Easy Like Sunday Morning & A Late 4th of July Post…..
Good Morning Luv-lies,
Just checking in to see how everyone’s 4th of July holiday panned out. I started the morning, early – my body forgot that it did not have to go into work that morning *bummer* 😛 with my usual cup of jo, 2 boiled egg whites and a bowl of mixed berries ~5PPV…YEY!!!!!.
As the early morning hours slowly inched toward mid-morning, I indulged in watching a steady stream of pre-recordings of my favorite Sunday morning show, CBS Sunday Morning, previously hosted by the late, Charles Kuralt – whose baritone voice is the real reason that I tuned in. Kuralt’s soothing voice has since been replaced by that of Charles Osgood – voice equally as appealing ;-).
The leisure of the morning was interrupted by a much anticpated-early afternoon- two hour-jammed pack-music infused Zumba class. I soooo look forward to this class with this instructor! She is FanTabuLous!!!
Her classes are flooded with great music and loads of energy…. can you say “Cardio on steroids”!?
zumba-o
Needless to say, the Zumba class set me up juuuuust nicely for the pending holiday foodfest 🙂
Initially, I had planned to stop past one of my favorite eateries and have my holiday feast there. However, my spontaneous alter-ego took over and I decided to spend that time at home with a ‘home grilled meal’. Thank goodness for the weekly meeting where we went over ‘how not to pig out during the holiday’! Since this was an unplanned meal (had I gone to my favorite restaurant, I would have known what I was going to eat :-P) I had to figure out what was going to make for a flavorful and filling meal that did not make me spend my remaining PPVs and that was fit for grilling. This task called for a trip to my new found digital shelves that house my virtual library. Once there, it did not take me long to find just the meal….
Shrimp and Kielbasa Kabobs… {yumminess on a skewer & Only 7PPV ~ YeY!}.
… my delicious and savory eat is pictured below…. What do you think?… Yum-cious – right?
kabobs
After the meal, I spent the remainder of the afternoon ‘chillaxin’… gearing up for an evening of fireworks that the city government’s office promised to be stupendously spectacular !
fireworksanimation-13
Two hours later, tired but in a satisfied and fulfilled kind of way, I returned home to quietly reflect on the wonderful, unplanned hours of the day.
That,  was my fantastic fourth!
