Friday {Food} Porn:: It’s Time to Feed Last Night’s Partying

Hey Luv-lies
Happy Second Day of the New Year!!!
The ball has dropped, the confetti is thrown, the champagne is popped, the kisses planted and the resolutions made!
Done. Done. And Done.

Rolling over on this second day of the New Year, I have two questions….

Question_Mark_by_Bushlemon

… What’s for Breakfast?

One of the ‘Friends in My Head’ is an accomplished Chef … And so this is what is on the menu this morning

First up….

Yes.

You knew it would be first up on the menu.

What’s breakfasts without a delicious plate of fruit-infused stacked pancakes … stacked high?

Syrup please…

Second up… something a little lighter

A lightly toasted sesame bagel with a dollop of  dill flavored cream cheese topped with a slice of avocado and fresh dill….

#YUMLICIOUS!!!!

How About ….

… a large hot cup of  ‘jo, my laptop and a warm cozy comforter….?

coffee1

I’m not real sure which to pick…. but I’m leaning toward the coffee and comforter (don’t have to go to work this morning, so why get out of bed?)

What are your doing this second day of the New Year?
Do Tell…..

Oh Yes…. The second question?

Anyone have anything for this headache?

{F}arm to Table …. Supporting {F}armers, {F}amilies & Communities through {F}ood…. #AtoZChallenge2014

Hello Luv-lies,  How was everyone’s weekend?

The weather was pretty nice

Day #6  of the #AtoZChallenge2014

The Letter ‘F’

{F}arm to Table

The general concept and mission of {F}arm to Table  is to help local farms thrive, link {F}armers to markets and supporters, and build healthy communities through connections to local {F}ood. The mission can/is achieved through (but not limited to) providing support and training to area {F}armers, connecting {F}armers to area chefs and foodservice buyers and spearheading local food campaigns.

The premise is based on the idea that, “when communities pay closer attention to where their {F}ood is grown and how it reaches their table, and,  people re-discover the “localness” of all that’s around them, {F}ood suddenly has a sense of place.  {F}arms and restaurants build close relationships, strengthening their local economies and forging new cultural identities for their communities … all based on {F}ood …”

How Food Porn Is Made

Happy Friday Luv-lies,

Have you been staying warm?  The winter blast is still hanging around.  I’m kinda getting used to it? How about you?

There’s quite a bit of  ‘good’ television on the horizon.   The Super Bowl in a couple of weeks. The Grammy’s this weekend.  I had a chance to catch a little of the tennis championship going on in Melbourne, Australia { it aired ‘very’ early in this part of the world – like some time around three in the morning.  I had to catch the highlights, on the sports shows to find out that Nadal won because I couldn’t keep my eyes open *sigh*}.

Even though you want to watch the actual event, don’t you find that you really tune in to watch the great commercials?  Especially on Super Bowl Sunday!  Don’t you find that you the majority of your ‘refrigerator runs’ are made during the game?  Because who wants to hear about the most talked about new commercials while standing around the water cooler? Not me!

commercial-break

And, like you, I often wonder how the producers can get some of the children and animals to do the things that they do.  I bet that it makes for a very, looooong day.  Oh well!, I guess that’s why they charge the bucks – no whammies!

Today’s Friday Food Porn is not a behind the scene look at how they get the kids and animals to look cute and ‘play nice in the playground’.

Noooooo.

Today’s post is a 3:20 video produced by a German production studio that’s famous for capturing some of the most stunning, high-speed photography behind commercials.  This piece features food.  Of course.

enjoy the video!  And your Weekend

What’s In Your Food?

Good Morning Luv-lies,

I love gadgets!!   Show me an electronic gadget, I’ll show you a gal that’s in e-heaven!!!

Kitchen gadgets, office gadgets, clothing gadgets…. it just doesn’t matter.  If it’s a gadget, I’m sold.

New on my gadget list of  ‘I Want That’ is this baby pictured below.

It’s handle is the ‘Tellspec’ and its claim to fame is that with a wave of the hand, it can calculate all the calories,  ingredients, chemicals, and allergens in all types of food.

WOW” !!!  Imagine that!

The concept is the brainchild of a the young daughter of an entrepreneur and math professor, who was plagued by food allergies.   The story  is that one evening, while having dinner, the youngster picked up a flash drive and proposed a device that, when pointed at food would be able to calculate it’s content.  *From the minds of Babes*

Here’s the video, to fill you in on the details.  I must warn you, though, there is a short segment that gets very scientific.

Well Luv-lies, if you’re anything like me, right now you are the edge of your seat waiting, breathlessly, for me to tell you where you can be one of the first to get your hands on one of these luv-vah-lies!  Here’s where I break it to you gently….

…. this product, is not yet for sale.  Actually, the two inventors are in the process of working out the kinks, raising funds, and talking with optical companies who might be interested in manufacturing this little gem.

Until then, I’ll stand in line with you guys and hope that it will be available soon –  in pink 🙂

What gadget can you not live without  – real and/or imagined?  *wink*

How About this Crazy Weather …. and …. Today I Found Out 10 {Interesting} Food Facts

Good Morning Luv-lies,

questions please
I hope that you have had many successes this week 🙂

It’s been a trying week (and that’s an understatement) for everyone across the states, as far as the weather goes. Blazing heat on one coast, that has resulted in seemingly uncontrollable spontaneous fires. The tornadoes seem to never stop, especially for our friends in the mid-west and (surprising for some) along the northeastern seaboard. All this unsettledness and uncertainty can easily lead to (well understood) anxiety, discomfort and unrest – to name a few.

In light of all of these “what in the world is happening?” weather occurrences, I hope that all of you have been able to maintain some sense of normality in your life (in general) and in your weight-loss efforts (specifically).

…… now onto something lighter….

I Was Ambushed by a Pizza

pizza monsterHello Luv-lies,

It’s been a while since I’ve enjoyed a slice {and in this case, 2 slices} of one of my favorite types of pizza – MEAT LOVERS! …. Well, if your going to eat it, it may as well have the kitchen sink on it.. right? *coy smile*

My abstinence has been for no other reason than that I’ve really not had an craving/taste for pizza. Today I craved. And I ate. Now, pre- WW days I would have devoured four pieces of this mouth watering treat. But today, I was satisfied with half of that – and a cool 22 points!

I just have two things to say about this:

(1) Mmmmmmmm Mmmmmmm Good!, and

(2) Thank Goodness for the extra 49 weekly points  ! {I very seldom use them, but this day, I am sooooo glad that I have them!}

What sinfully delicious treat did you use your 49 extra points on this week?

Smart Snacking

Hello Luv-lies,

Remember growing up when you were told that snacking between meals would guarantee, not only spoiling your next meal, but would definitely help to pack on the pounds? Well…. you’ll be glad to know that, healthy snacking not only curbs your appetite- making the next meal a welcomed dining experience –  but it aides in weight loss by quelling the urge to overeat.

*HaHa! How’s that for great news!?*

As we all have discussed, at some point, while occupying the ‘green seats’, that PLANNING IS KEY! A planned snacks, liked planned meals, makes it a no-brainer when you need to grab something nutritious to hold you over until the that next meal and makes it easier to control and stick to your allotted portions. So what makes a snack, a snack and not a treat?

apple snackWell, this is my understanding of the difference between these two seemingly same ideas.
A snack is a nutrient-rich meal that serves to sustain you until your next meal...Food for survival.

Where a treat is a reward… something pleasing to eat because it is rare or a luxury…..Food for your soul.

So what makes one a smart snacker?

I have a few….

* Snack only when you’re hungry
Many other feelings may disguise themselves as hunger: Boredom, frustration,
anger, happiness, loneliness…. Just about any emotional you can think of. When
the urge comes to eat to an emotional, channel that energy into doing something
physical – stay one more hour in the garden, bowl one more game, walk one
more mile….

* Watch, both, Points Plus and Nutrient Value of your snack choice
In a word {or more}, all Point Values are not equal. Enough said.

* Plan your snacks ahead of time
We’ve learned this again and again during the meeting. One little ditty that
I’ve learned from the members of my group is to mark point values on
food containers. I love this one because when I’m in a hurry, I don’t have
look up the point value. Just grab and go!

These are just a few things that I do to assure that I am snacking wisely and healthily. You should always make room for healthy snacks in your meal planning. Choosing them carefully will thwart the urge to overeat and assist with your weight loss success…

What tips do you use that help you with incorporating healthy snacks into your eating
plan?
