{I}nfusion: #AtoZChallenge 2016

Infusion is the process and the result of, steeping an aromatic substance into a liquid – hot or cold – until the liquid has absorbed the added ingredient’s flavor .

The beauty of infusion is that,  not only do the flavor(s) being extracted from foods infiltrate the liquid, the flavors of the liquid is transferred into the food.  Think of it  as one hand washing the other!

Flavored vinegars and oils, milk, and tea leaves and  herb and spices – lavender comes to mind – are common ingredients used in the infusion process.

One of the most common and well-known types of infusion is used in the process of preserving food.  The berries and fruit are placed in alcohol or vinegar allowing them to be stored, without spoiling.

Now,  you’re always ready for that unexpected houseguest!

Don’t think that you’ve used this technique?   Have you added fruit to your water?  How about lemons slices?  Cucumbers slices? Mint leaves? Thyme? Rosemary?

Infusions are all around us!  There are endless ways to create them!  Today’s infusions techniques helps me turn, what can be, a multi-day/month process, into a few hours work.

When it comes to infusions,  you are only limited by your creativity!  Have fun!

{A}romatics: #AtoZChallenge 2016

Day One of the #AtoZChallenge!Hello Luv-lies,

Before I dive right into this challenge this year (I tried two years ago but didn’t get too far…*hanging head down in shame*) but this year I am extremely excited about the challenge.  I think that two years ago, I got stalled at the Letter ‘M’  because I just plain ol’  ran out of creative ideas.  What makes this year different?  Focus.  And my love of this year’s theme!

Over the last few years my relationship with food has completely changed. Before, I had no interest in food. I was simply a consumer of food. All I wanted to know was, when it was time to eat!   What changed?  I got bitten by the all things foodie! – magazines to food- inspired television shows.  Now, I can’t seem to get my fill *cheap pun intented* of all that is food!

So now I’m here!   Day One of the #AtoZChallenge!

Without further ado, I give you the {a}wesome:

Letter {A}.  {A} is for {A}romatics

Aromatics is said to be the combination of , mostly veggies and herbs – although at times it can include meat – that are heated in some type of *good* fat at the beginning of preparing a dish.  The result – deep flavors imparted into your favorite dish! You see, it’s the heating of the fats that helps the ingredients release their addictive aromas.

…. and all those wonderful scents are what memories are made of. ….

What’s your favorite food scent?  Where does that scent transport you to?

CLASSIC LBD

Growing up, it was ingrained in my psyche what every young woman needed to be prepared for that unexpected invitation – a pair of elegant heels and aThe “{L}ittle Black Dress”  or {L}BD. The The “{L}ittle Black Dress” was, and still is, considered essential to a complete wardrobe. Many women and fashion observers believe it a “rule of fashion” that every woman should own a simple, but elegant black dress that can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion.

Every woman I know has an {L}BD that can be worn with a jacket and pumps for daytime business wear or with more elaborate jewelry, fancy shoes and accessories for an evening affair.

... ala CASUAL

… ala CASUAL

The “{L}ittle Black Dress” is also worn as a sign of belonging and as a sign of individuality, as a way to conceal and as a way to be noticeable. It is the most trusted staple in a woman’s closet.

Sometimes theThe “{L}ittle Black Dress”  has a function other than evening elegance or the daytime boardroom. It has been known to be used by many a femme fatale for the sole purpose of seducing men. And of course, most women have at least one of those in their closets.

{Hello} Audrey ...

{Hello} Audrey …

Now according to the urban dictionary,The “{L}ittle Black Dress”  is the dress that is just a little too short. Just a little too tight. One that hugs curves you never knew you had. One that looks as if it was made for your body; and your body only. One that makes you feel sexy the second you put it on.

Still, every young woman should own one elegant  “{L}ittle Black Dress”.  The kind that will take you to the boardroom and not someone’s bedroom.

Day #1 of the #AtoZChallenge2014.  Yeaaaaaa! *clapping hands & throwing confetti*   THE LETTER ‘A’!!!

Aromatherapy….  Hippocrates stated that “The way to health is to have an aromatic bath and scented massage every day.”

I should be so lucky!  Now I’ve had my share of massages, mannies and pedis.   And I thought that I had an Aromatherapy session or two thrown in.  However, after finding out that the true experience of Aromatherapy includes, not only a body especially of the face.  The massage is done with fragrant essential oils extracted from herbs, flowers, and fruits because the use of aroma helps to enhance a feeling of well-being.

I’ll take one of those! Pleaaaaze…..

I find that my memory works better when I have a visual reference – I swear that it has something to do with the beauty of this ‘aging thing’ – *big smile*    So if you need the visual thing to help you, this visual is for us

The essential oils and water-based goodies are said to promote physical, emotional, and spiritual health and balance – I, for one, definitely need that!  Right?   These extracts make their way into the air we breath in when they’re used in massage oil, or added to bathwater.  These extracts sends message to a special area in the brain that are said to trigger physiological responses (e.g., eucalyptus relieves congestion, lavender promotes relaxation).

Want to have this experience in the privacy of your own home?  This great site serves up all of the DIY good-goods to make it happen
